Italy 1-8 May

Tuscany 2-6 May
We stayed in Florence for four days went to Lucca, Pisa, Siena, Pistoia, San Gimigniano. Siena has a huge round main square where they have horse races twice a year. We went to an exhibition of children's book illustrations - la immagini della fantasia. It was inside an ancient cathedral and the ceilings and walls were covered in beautifull murals. We saw fabulous illustrations from children's books from all over the world. Florence was full of busloads of tourists from all sorts of countries. We couldn't visit the Uffizi Gallery to see Botticelli's paintings as the queues were too long - about 3 hours to get in. There are lots of beautiful buildings & statues, the Ponte Vecchio - a bridge with old shops. I had lots of gelato - my favourite flavour was nutella. We ate lots of pasta and pizzas too. Liam, my brother, eats spaghetti at every meal, he smothers it in parmesan cheese.
